This
bullet, along with the 308-150 and 358-200, was originally designed for the hand
cannon crowd.
These folks had expressed that the bullets that were available, in the
weights that would give them useable trajectory and range, were either
constructed too lightly or they were more designed for rifles and wouldn’t
open at the lower velocities.
Their desire was for a bullet that would hold together but still open at
the low velocities that resulted from long-range shots (for pistols) and low
initial muzzle velocities.
The 284-130 was designed to fit that bill.
From the pictures you will see that this bullet will answer the problem.
In testing the bullet, it was found that the performance parameters also
went beyond just those of just pistols.
We have received reports of successful use from pistols and rifles, on
game from coyotes (not for hide hunters), antelope, and deer.
Of the reports received, only one instance was there a recovered bullet.
That was from a head on shot at a mule deer using a 7-08 pistol.
The bullet was recovered in the rear ham.
The bullet was not returned
for photographs.
