This bullet was designed, primarily,
for 45-caliber lever action rifles. The
front groove can be used for a crimp groove and doing so would give the proper
overall length for the current Marlin and Winchester rifles chambered in 45-70
or 450 Marlin. The bullet will open
at 1200 fps and withstand impact velocities that are far beyond any velocity
that can be generated by any current 45-caliber lever gun.
Just in case you’ve looked at the pictures and are wondering, no, there
is no lever gun cartridge that can drive the bullet to 2650 fps.
That shot was a max velocity load from a 458 Winchester Magnum.
I just wanted to see what it would do at that speed.
No problem.
This bullet will work on deer size game but I am the
last person that will tell you that you need this high tech of a bullet for
deer.
The
bullet was primarily designed for large bore, elk, moose, and big bear, in
defensive situations.
It was found to out penetrate all of the 400grain expanding bullets (even
other bonded bullets) that are generally used for these situations, when loaded
to the max velocities from the 45-70 cartridge.
