The 250-grain is probably the most useful weight for the 358 caliber rifles, from the Whelen through Norma and the STA. It is the preferred weight for elk in those cartridges. The bullet on the right, in the last photo, is from an Oryx that was shot with a 35 G&H IMP (think STA) at a muzzle velocity exceeding 3000fps. The first shot was lengthwise through the animal. The second shot at a weak but still standing animal, was at 20 yds and took out both shoulders and the spine. This hunter was a friend and I instructed him to try and destroy the bullet and he gave it his best try. The bullet was completely intact but from the picture you can tell that is had a tough life passing through all that bone at high velocity. That is the reason I recommend the 270-grain for African bone crushing or large, tough, or dangerous game. For a bullet that was basically designed for the Whelen and Norma, it performed admirably.
