The nose section of both the 284-160 and 284-175 are constructed the same and therefore can be expected to perform the same. The advantage of the 175-grain comes from its higher sectional density, which would provide a greater range of options as far as shot presentation. Also the 175 would be preferred for the heavier species the size of elk, moose, and bear. The 175gr really begins to shine when loaded into large 7mm cartridges such as Remington Ultra Mag, 7mm STW, and Lazzeroni Firebird.
