This bullet was designed, primarily, for 45-caliber lever action rifles. The front groove can be used for a crimp groove and doing so would give the proper overall length for the current Marlin and Winchester rifles chambered in 45-70 or 450 Marlin. The bullet will open at 1200 fps and withstand impact velocities that are far beyond any velocity that can be generated by any current 45-caliber lever gun. This bullet will work on deer size game but I am the last person that will tell you that you need this high tech of a bullet for deer.
